We are excited to receive your manuscript, and we want to make sure that it receives the attention it deserves! In order to help us explore your work, please adhere to the following guidelines:

GENRE CONSIDERATIONS

Eighth Press is considering works of fantasy, science fiction, and speculative fiction. 

SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS 

We welcome simultaneous submissions. If you are querying your manuscript with other publishing houses, please do us the courtesy of including "SIMULTANEOUS" in your information block on the first page of your manuscript.

MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS

You are welcome to submit as many finished works of fiction as you would like during a Submission Call, but each submission must be sent separately. Do not attach multiple manuscripts to a single submission.

MANUSCRIPT FORMAT

Please submit a one-page synopsis and the first chapter of your manuscript in 12-point type, double-spaced, with numbered pages. Margins should be one-inch in width. 

On the first page of your submission, please include the title of your work as well as names, email addresses, and phone numbers of all authors.

Include "STAND-ALONE" or "SERIES" in this information block to indicate your intentions for your book or series.

Below this information, please include total wordcount of your submission and your full manuscript in ratio format.

SUBMISSION LENGTH

Eighth Press is only accepting novel-length submissions, and encourage readers to only submit completed works of fiction. We consider the following wordcount ranges to constitute a novel-length work of fiction:

Science-Fiction:  80,000 - 120,000 words

Fantasy:  80,000-120,000 words

Speculative Fiction: 70,000 - 100,000 words

We define anything in excess of these ranges to be "epic-length fiction" and do not generally accept epic-length submissions from first-time authors.

It is the intent of Eighth Press to respond to every submission individually and promptly. Please allow us 45 days to contact you with an indication of our interest in your submission.
